Yesterday, we relaunched our #FurFreeSTL petition!
We have decided to migrate the petition we are using from our database to Change.org, the largest petition site in the world! Better yet, over 200 people have already signed our petition, demonstrating the strong grassroots support for banning this horrendously cruel industry.
Each year, the fur industry slaughters one billion rabbits and over 50 million other animals, including foxes, minks, and seals. These innocent beings are killed in some of the most inhumane ways imaginable, from anal and vaginal electrocution to being skinned alive.
Animals raised for fur also routinely endure cramped, unsanitary conditions, with many suffering from untreated infections and crippled feet. Millions more go insane from the stress, confinement, and abuse, running in circles or engaging in other repetitive behaviors. These tortured souls crave nothing more than an end to their suffering and an escape from their rusty-wire prisons.
Fortunately, millions of compassionate people around the world are mobilizing to push for the complete and total abolition of the fur industry. Cities like Berkeley and San Francisco, the state of California, and countries like the UK, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, and France have all banned fur farming, with dozens more fur bans pending. Meanwhile, fashion giants like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Versace, Prada, and Gucci have all gone fur-free.
We call on the St. Louis Board of Alderman to join dozens of companies, cities, and countries around the world in opposing the profound cruelty inherent to the fur industry. We call on the St. Louis Board of Alderman to ban the sale of fur in the city of St. Louis. Help us send a clear message that St. Louis is a progressive, forward-thinking city that will no longer tolerate the fur industry's atrocious treatment of animals!
